The Safer Version of the Disposable Diaper

December 29th, 2008   Filed Under Diapers

Baby on potty happyThe media has unfolded some dark secrets about disposable diapers that have put many mothers on the edge of their seats. The negatives of disposable diapers that were already known, like the landfill issue with the environment, had most parents border line skeptical of disposable diapers. Because of convenience and the stereotype of cloth diapers, the environment was placed on the back burner and parents continued to purchase millions of disposable diapers.

Recently, the media has leaked into newspapers and television the health issues arising from the high levels of toxic chemicals being used for the advanced versions of the disposable diaper. As scientists look closer, these chemicals, combined with every day constant contact with the skin and genital area, cause strange rashes and dysfunctional problems for many children. [More...]

Avoid the Mess of a Cloth Diaper and Choose A Disposable Diaper

December 28th, 2008   Filed Under Diapers

Baby in disposable diaperFor busy parents and active babies, its just not feasible to change a child’s diaper immediately after it is contaminated. Absorbency in a disposable diaper will remove a majority of the wetness leaving the skin dry and fresh. This will greatly reduce diaper rashes. This is important to your child’s health. More improved brands have even invented diapers that have mesh air paths to keep that area ventilated. Although it is highly recommended that a parent change a diaper as soon as possible after soiling, at least you know that the period of time that the wetness is unknown, the absorbency pads are protecting your baby’s soft skin.

If you can handle the mess of bowel movements in a cloth diaper, than many kudos to you. Most parents have a hard time dealing with the cleaning and soaking of cloth diapers, so as a matter of convenience, they choose to use a disposable diaper method. Yes, it costs more money, but it’s a small price to pay for such valuable time wasted. [More...]

Cloth Diapers are the Natural Way to Diapering

December 23rd, 2008   Filed Under Diapers

Is there really a better way to diaper?  Any natural fabric is better for a child’s skin regardless of the other benefits of using a cloth diaper. It requires you to change their diapers more often which overall is better for a child’s skin and health.

Rashes are a huge concern for most parents and preventing them should be a priority. Infections, itching, burning and redness can result from using disposable diapers. There is no reason to subject a child’s skin to chemicals when there are alternate options available. Rashes will not appear because of allergic reactions if you choose to use the cloth diaper method. The only rashes a child using a cloth diaper will experience are ones that come from being left in a dirty diaper too long or the diapers not being properly washed. Some people fail to rinse all of the soap out. Those rashes are not related to diaper type.

Comfort is another concern for parents. Velcro, scatchy materials and tight elastic around the legs and stomach often cause discomfort to a mobile child. With cloth diapers the material is soft and nonabrasive. It’s like an absorbent blanket on their bottom end. In any temperature, these diapers will always remain body temperature. The natural feeling of cloth is also satisfying to the parents who must handle the diapers on a daily basis. [More...]

Destroying the Sterotypes of the Cloth Diaper

December 23rd, 2008   Filed Under Diapers

cloth diaperFor years the cloth diaper carried an inconvenient and unsanitary reputation. This reputation has tainted the use of cloth diapering for decades now. Between the pins, the mess, the washing and the constant changing of a child’s diaper, parents reluctantly changed to disposable diapers over time. Recently, there have been some changes to the cloth diaper that will be putting it back on the market and a great alternative to spending all that money on throw aways.

Growing up most of us remember the cloth diaper. There was the complex fold to shape the bottom of a child perfectly, there was the scary blue diaper pins that pricked quite a few moms back in the day, there were the plastic pants that went over the cloth diaper and of course the big bucket of soap water that dirty diapers soaked in. No wonder why people chose to spend more money on the convenience of disposable diapers. [More...]

Advice On Choosing a Disposable Diaper

December 23rd, 2008   Filed Under Diapers

disposable diaper on babyDisposable diapers were created in the 1950s to satisfy a market of busier mothers who were fed up with the hassles of cloth diapering. Since then, many different types, styles and colors have surfaced on the market gaining popularity over the cloth diaper. Disposable diapers have hundreds of varieties that cater to the needs of each individual child. Parents enjoy the convenience of diapers who have these seemingly custom options.

Overall a disposable diaper has notable absorbency. Some diapers are meant for heavy wetters or over nights and others are lighter for more mobile activity. Absorbency is important for your baby because the more contents that become absorbed the less there will be rubbing against the skin. The best way to prevent the possible rash that results from a child sitting in a wet diaper, other than purchasing a highly absorbent diaper, is to change the child immediately after the diaper is contaminated. The number one reason for rash is leaving a child in a soiled diaper. [More...]

Choosing Cloth Diapers For Your Baby’s Skin, Your Pocket and Your Environment

December 22nd, 2008   Filed Under Baby Potty Training

Choosing what type of diaper to use on your newborn is a long term decision. Typically, what you decide will be the type of diaper you use for a year or two. Perhaps your decision factor is what is the most cost effective diaper method. Perhaps you want to know which method is the most environment friendly. Maybe you want to choose what is most comfortable for your child. Many of you who care about these three factors will choose a cloth diaper.

Cost effectiveness of using the cloth diaper exceeds that of disposables. Anything that is reusable saves money. Imagine only purchasing 100 cloth diapers rather than nearly 10,000 disposable ones. The savings are astronomical. All they require are a thorough washing to be ready for their next use. [More...]
