Naturally, if this proves to be a persistent problem, parents tend to become frustrated by the lack of progress and the continuation of accidents. However, by using a few simple potty training tips, you can help your child overcome his or her fears and become potty trained.

It is not too uncommon for some children to be fearful of toilets. As you can imagine, this can make potty training somewhat problematic for the parent. To help alleviate your child’s apprehension, it may be necessary to increase your child’s familiarity with the training toilet. Try keeping it in sight rather than stowed away in the bathroom. This can help breed familiarity with the object, and fears may soon fade entirely. [More...]

Three Methods of Potty Training

January 2nd, 2009   Filed Under Baby Potty Training

infant being potty trainedThere have been a lot of questions lately about potty training, and when to potty train. There are quite a few methods available depending on preferences and parenting styles. Here are some things that are helpful when trying decide about potty training. The three methods focused on in this article are infant potty training, readiness potty training, and potty training in a day.

Infant potty training takes the approach that an infant can learn about toilet training even before the infant is aware of bodily functions. This method demands more time of the parents, but it could reap rewards when the child is trained at 18 months old instead of 3. As part of this method, the parent takes the child to the toilet every time it is suspected that the child may have to eliminate. As part of this routine, the child is put on a regular feeding and sleeping schedule so the parents can time when the child will go on the toilet. A child then has a learned behavior of knowing whentopottytrain on their own. [More...]

How to Know When to Potty Train Your Baby

January 1st, 2009   Filed Under Baby Potty Training

five babies on a blanketWhen it comes to toilet training a child, there are several different clues, depending on the child, to know when to potty train.  Most children as early as 6 to 8 months old will pull at their diaper, cry, or even tell you they are wet or dirty.  That alone is a big clue to knowing that your child is ready.  There is a better way than these clues to knowing when to start toilet training.  It is the Infant Potty Training method.  This is when you start to potty train as early as 2 or 3 months old (for some even earlier).  Since we are so conditioned to waiting until they are toddlers, it is not even thought of to train them basically right from birth.  Why not?  They are adapting to their surroundings at that time.  Why no go ahead and give them a healthier start and potty train in the infant phase of life. Potty Training Tips: When to Potty Train

Baby with dummy in mouthIf you ask an American parent or expert when to potty train your child, you will get conflicting information.  That does not mean you shouldn’t ask, it is just a fact of life.  All experts and parent have differing opinions about how and when to start toilet training.  The Eastern hemisphere countries start potty training between as early as 2 weeks old to 6 months old.  This has been a common practice there for centuries.  It might surprise you to know that it was also common in America before the 40’s and the invention of the washing machine.  After that, it was not so much an inconvenience to wash soiled diapers.  And so began the potty training practices at older ages. An Older but Better Method of Baby Potty Training

January 1st, 2009   Filed Under Baby Potty Training

woman holding smelly diaperThere has been much research and development in learning more about infant behavior than ever before.  We now know that infants are smarter than previously thought and that they are much more receptive to learning between the ages of birth and 6 months.  In the Eastern hemisphere, early baby potty training is common and has been for many years.  They use open crotch pants while they are training their babies to use the potty.  Many babies are pretty well potty trained by the time they reach 9 months old using the IPT method of potty training.  IPT is the abbreviation for Infant Potty Training.  As early as birth, many parents in the East begin early potty training by watching their baby’s feeding and potty habits and using that to train them.  This method is now being introduced to many other countries and being used by parents. Out With the New and in With the Old Baby Potty Training

January 1st, 2009   Filed Under Baby Potty Training

babyIf you have a new baby at home, you can start potty training now.  As early as birth, an infant can be potty trained.  This method is the Infant Potty Training method, or IPT.  In the last several decades, traditionally, potty training does not begin until 18-36 months.  In some countries, they start baby potty training as early as birth to 6 months.  That may sound just amazing to you, but what is truly amazing is that it is a tried and true method of early potty training.  There is a window of possibility for IPT between birth and 6 months that closes and typically does not reopen again until around 8-12 months.  Babies can learn many things in the first months of life.  Potty training at this early age is merely a way of allowing them to realize when they need to go, and letting you know when that time is. A Revival Of Early Baby Potty Training

January 1st, 2009   Filed Under Baby Potty Training

training potty with toilet paperWhat is the "right" age to potty train your little one?  That is a question brought forth to many experts who have varying answers.  Naturally, each child is different, and usually boys are different than girls in this regard.  Most of the time parents do not start training until their child is a toddler.  The toddler age is a stubborn, busy age for a child.  That is common knowledge, yet we still insist upon potty training them during that stage.  Sometimes we fail to realize just how receptive infants are to potty training as well as any other learning.  We do read to our babies while still in the mother’s womb, as it has been proven that they will learn faster.  Infants have brains that are open to almost anything and we shouldn’t deny them early baby potty training methods just because we think they are too young to learn.
