Night Time Toilet Training – Tips To Stop Night Time Bed Wetting

Some children stay dry at night easily; other take a while to master the habit. If your child still wets the bed, make sure they wear nighttime nappies. Praise is good for dry nights, but never scold your child for a wet bed or talk about his bed-wetting in front of others. Shame and embarrassment should not be a part of your child’s bed-wetting experience. It will only cause anxiety and that will exacerbate the problem.

To help your child stay dry at night, talk to him often about the night routine of toilet training. Let him know it is okay to come and waken you for help if he cannot go by himself. In some cases, a potty in the bedroom may be preferable to making a long trip to the bathroom. At least, it often seems long to a little child. A night-light in their room and the hall may help them feel secure if they are afraid of the dark.

If your child cannot manage to stay dry at night, use a mattress protector as well as a pull-on nappy. Once the need for a nappy is almost gone, keep the waterproof protector on in case of accidents. This will save both of you from feeling stressed or anxious.
