If you have ever potty trained a child, you know how stressful it is for both parent and toddler.  Once a baby becomes his/her own person, they think for themselves, and have already adapted to using the potty in their diapers.  The best time for learning potty chair adaptation is when the baby is in the infant stage when they do most of their adaptive learning.  After 6 months, the baby is accustomed to going in the diaper, and thinking nothing of the urge to use the potty.  It becomes second nature to them to have a diaper, and that IS their potty.  If, in the first few months of adaptive life, you were to condition your baby to know when the urge comes on and take them to a potty chair where they can go, that becomes second nature, and going to the potty is not such a scary or stressful thing.  It takes merely knowing your baby’s routine and a few weeks to decide when to potty train at the infant stage.

It is easier in the first few months to toilet train your baby for many reasons.  First, it is much healthier, and eliminates diaper rash.  Second, it teaches them when they are wet or soiled as opposed to being so used to it, that it does not bother them to be wet or soiled.  Third, it is better for our environment not to have disposble diapers everywhere.  It is recommended that you use cloth diapers for early potty training.  Do not be surprised when your baby has an accident while running around without a diaper.  If anything, it will make them more aware of when to go to the bathroom.  No matter what you decide about whentopottytrain, remember to be patient and understanding.  It is a learning process that requires compassion.
