Potty Training Toilet Seat

When it comes to the time of toilet training your child, it’s time to ‘put on a seat belt’ and gather patience, comfort and love for your child. This is one activity in the bringing up of a child that does not come on a silver platter and in any case may leave you feeling frustrated with your baby. You need not go through hell though. Patience, love and tolerance are the magic word, not forgetting that you will need to be encouraging to your kid too. This way, things will turn out much easier.

Training your child on the use of the potty can start as early as when he or she is 6 months old, although you will find that some children will go up to 18 months before they start getting trained. At 18 months, they can themselves point out to you that they want to flex their bowels open.

Potty training exercise will be met with a lot of resistance if they are forced to do it, so it is best if you just do it in a very gentle way. Show him how to sit in the toilet seat. Do it yourself if you have to, and gently place him on it and have him do what he have to do.

If he has to let go of the fear of sitting on the toilet, then you have to allow him to play around with the flush and the water in the bowl. The flush of water will excite him to the extent that he will want to keep doing it. If the child still has fears about the seat, you could buy him a small plastic one that he can practice sitting on without necessary removing his clothes.
